Job Description
Essential duties and responsibilities:
• Maintain a working knowledge of the Georgia Open Records Act
• Identify and maintain a thorough knowledge of PII (Personal Identifiable Information) and PHI (Personal Health Information).
• Conduct accurate legal analysis to redact all PII and PHI information that is protected according to state and federal law. Review and redaction include paper documents, electronic files, photographs, videos, and audio files.
• Knowledge of basic legal concepts regarding withholding documents.
• Understand the Department’s protocol regarding how request for records is handled, from internal and external sources. Extensive research may be required, depending on the type of record requested.
• Evaluate new requests to determine what records are being requested and ask for clarification from the Requestor or Supervisor, if needed.
• Maintain an understanding of the services, programs, and operations of the Department and how Open Records plays a role.
• Track the receipt of the requested records from the source within the Department.
• Check for accuracy between the documents requested and the documents produced.
• Quickly develop a working knowledge of the Departments databases by logging, retrieving, and updating information for each request.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or GED AND Four years of progressively complex office or administrative experience.
• Must be able to handle high volume of work and be comfortable with busy office setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience working in administrative role within a healthcare setting (hospital, nursing home, doctor’s office, etc.)
• Experience in a legal office setting (attorney’s office, law firm, legal administrative office, etc.)
• Basic understanding of medical terms
• Intermediate understanding of HIPAA requirements
• Experience with electronic redaction tools

• Experience with Microsoft Office.

• Able to work independently.
