Job Description:
This position is primarily telework but will need to report to the office to pick up IT equipment on their first day and few times per month for trainings, meetings, and requested by manager. The Risk Management Services unit of the Department of Administrative Services seeks Financial Analyst who under general supervision, performs professional level accounting and fiscal control functions. Performs and/or oversees documentation, analysis, and reporting. May assist in the design or implementation of financial/accounting/budget related reports. Perform accounting duties in the area of accounts receivable and general ledger, according to DOAS established policies and standards.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of business operations (AP and AR)
Knowledge of insurance and risk management operations
Skills using queries and reports to monitor financial records
Ability to retrieve information from the accounting system, analyze, identify and investigate discrepancies
Strong oral and written communication skills; Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent customer service skills
Excellent analytical skills
Experience using Microsoft office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook
MINIMUM ENTRY QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor' s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university
OR Associate' s degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in a related area
OR One year of professional experience in general accounting, billing and collection systems and/or claims.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following items below. PLEASE CLEARLY INDICATE YOUR KNOWLEDGE OF THESE QUALIFICATIONS ON YOUR RESUME.
Intermediate Excel skills (creating spreadsheets, formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
Government accounting experience
Insurance or risk management experience
Three or more years of experience working in AP, AR and general accounting environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor' s degree in a business curriculum or related field from an accredited college or university OR associate s degree in a business curriculum or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of experience performing accounts receivable and collections functions OR High school diploma or GED AND four years of performing accounts receivable and collections functions or position equivalent.
