Job Description

Stage/Theater Technician will assist in all aspects of event set-up and production, including operating sound, lights, rigging, and computerized advanced projection system. The Theater technician will set up and take down all equipment, to include props and set, necessary for performances and events. He or she may serve as a staff member on duty at rehearsals, and a technical staff member on duty at performances. This position will report to the Production Manager.

Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Provide technical support and general support to events as assigned and as the building schedule permits including: load in, stage set-up, strike, and load-out
- Maintain a safe working area including the stage, backstage, and public spaces; keep up to date with technical theatre safety issues
- Ensure quality production values, including: meeting with Maxwell Theatre technical staff for collaborative production planning and determination of staging requirements as needed;
- Provide technical assistance for technical operations of rehearsals and performances; restore theatre after performances
- General maintenance of equipment, and may include general office work for the Maxwell Theatre including answering phones and other duties as assigned.
- Basic theatrical rigging knowledge required to hang lights, backdrops, or small scenery
- Basic painting to assist with painting sets
- Perform all other related duties as assigned

Requirements:
High school diploma or GED.
Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn.
One year of technical theater experience operating sound, lighting and video/projection systems in live performance venue
Excellent verbal/written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
Experience in Microsoft office programs to include Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and other computer software/databases to include Apple Mac and other apple products.
Knowledge of how to operate theatrical sound, lighting, and video/projection systems, theatrical props, and basic theatrical rigging
Ability to maintain professional conduct; interact with clients, students, staff members, and the public
Ability to maintain confidentiality

Documentation and screenings (BG beyond 7 years)
